Project Overview
Gephart provided electrical construction services for the FedEx Airbus Hangar Facility, the world’s largest aircraft maintenance hangar, located in Memphis, TN. For this massive undertaking, Gephart assigned two of its senior field supervisors to lead planning and coordination.
Our Work
Gephart provided electrical construction for this enormous aircraft facility. Gephart’s contributions included:
- Managed numerous changes to the schedule and project scope, including FedEx’s mid-project decision to transition from the originally selected Airbus A380s to Boeing 777s
- Designed and fabricated custom lighting fixture brackets
- Worked with FedEx to develop a power monitoring system
- Detailed and finalized design of the complex 400 Hz electrical distribution system
Success
- Welded custom lighting fixture brackets to the hangar’s trusses before they were erected, improving schedule and making working conditions safer.

- New container storage yard
- Two-story office addition
- Logistics warehouse building
- GSE building
- Parking lot expansion
- Machine shop renovation and expansion
- Ramp utilities expansion
- Site work for a new engine test facility
